Monthly Meeting – March

Event Date: 3 March 2017

Our next monthly meeting is on March 7, 2017. All are welcome.

Discussion topic: The Eastern Path, Stage 2, which passes from St Johns Rd by the Meadowbank Pony Club, through the Pourewa Valley down to the Meadowbank Train Station where it will meet the Orakei Basin Boardwalk. Meadowbank and St Johns residents feel cut off from the path as there is currently no access onto it from Meadowbank until you get to the station. It’s like a motorway that we can’t get on! We’d like this path to enhance our suburbs, so bring your ideas! Some ideas to get you started:

There’s so much scope to enhance our suburbs:
  • Along Stage 1, there is scope for a link to Felton Mathew Ave (next to Gerrard Roofing) and a link north into Apirana Ave
  • Along Stage 2, we need links both north and south, into local schools etc
  • Safety measures: lighting, emergency access, cameras
  • Cycle links into Gowing Drive, John Rymer Place
  • Improved playgrounds, eg in Tahapa Reserve West basketball court
  • Artwork
  • Bench seats
  • Wayfinding and signage
  • Secure bicycle racks
  • Access to the water for kayaks (Pourewa Creek side, Orakei Basin)

Meeting time and location
